In October 2023, the sixth Global Academic Innovation Excellence Award (GAIEA) ceremony was grandly held in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. This edition attracted candidates from 65 countries and regions worldwide, with total applications increasing by about 34% from the previous edition and again setting a new record. Applications opened in March 2023 and went through preliminary screening, expert review, and final review, covering six categories: engineering technology innovation, medical and health research, business management contribution, social science research, education development promotion, and legal policy contribution.
The ceremony officially began at 7 p.m. Guests included representatives of the Alliance Presidium, Council members, representatives of past awardees, and industry guests from Asia, Europe, and North America. Some awardees flew to Hong Kong from overseas to attend. The ceremony was solemn and enthusiastic. In the address, a representative of the Alliance Presidium said that after six years, GAIEA had grown from a newly founded award into an internationally recognized platform covering 65 countries worldwide.
Awardee representatives said in media interviews that GAIEA recognition is not only an honor but also an important international endorsement of years of research work, and that the award certificate can be included in employment-based immigration application materials. Photos from the ceremony and the awardee list have been published on the GAADI website and the independent GAIEA website. The seventh GAIEA subsequently opened applications in March 2024.
