From 6 to 10 July 2026, Geneva hosted the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, the World Summit on the Information Society Forum, and the ITU AI for Good Global Summit, creating a week of discussion spanning policy, standards, practical applications, and capacity development.

The first Global Dialogue on AI Governance mandated by the UN General Assembly considered the social, economic, cultural, and technical implications of AI, ways to bridge AI divides, approaches to safe and trustworthy governance, and the importance of transparency, accountability, and human oversight.

The WSIS Forum and AI for Good Global Summit connected those policy discussions with technical practice. Topics included agentic AI security, testing and benchmarking, misinformation and deepfakes, infrastructure and energy demand, as well as applications in robotics, edge AI, and brain-computer interfaces.

The programme reflects a broader shift from a narrow focus on model capability toward the combined development of governance frameworks, technical standards, professional skills, and demonstrable social value. Collaboration among government, industry, academia, and civil society will be essential to responsible adoption.
