Facing the severe challenges brought by the 2020 global public health crisis, GAADI quickly activated an emergency plan, completed the setup and testing of an online academic exchange platform early in the year, and officially launched it at the end of March. By September, the Alliance had held 9 seminars and 6 online review activities through the platform, with cumulative participation exceeding 8,000, effectively maintaining normal service operations and fulfilling its service commitments to members worldwide.
This forced online transformation unexpectedly opened new service possibilities. Through online channels, professionals from South America, the Middle East, and Africa were able to participate in Alliance academic activities at scale for the first time, whereas participation from these regions had previously been relatively low due to geography and travel costs. The September themed seminar was the largest, with more than 1,200 participants in a single session, bringing together professionals from Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania for in-depth exchange on topics such as the value of international academic credentials.
The Academic Achievement Review Center also completed online transformation of its review process this year, using encrypted file transfer and online meetings to ensure review quality did not decline because of remote operation. The Alliance Secretariat stated that the online service capability built during the pandemic will be retained as a long-term strategic asset, and the Alliance will adopt an integrated online-offline service model to minimize the barriers created by geographic distance for global members participating in Alliance activities.
